Soft, buttery, and tender, these sour cream biscuits only have 3 ingredients! They literally melt in your mouth and are the perfect side to any meal. If you’re from the south, you know biscuits are kind of a big deal. Three words: Biscuits and gravy! It’s a meal… fight me! If someone tells you biscuits and gravy isn’t a meal, drop them! You do not need that kind of negativity in your life!
Here in Texas, there have been random shortages of items in the grocery store. Lettuce, Gatorade, Lunchables, chicken wings, and most recently, biscuits. It’s been weeks since I’ve been able to find biscuits in the store. I know that someone with a baking blog should know how to make biscuits. While I can, there are times when I don’t want to! Let’s be real, sometimes you need a shortcut when in the kitchen!
These Sour Cream Biscuits use three ingredients and are so simple that you don’t need a short cut! They are prepared and baked in under 30 minutes! If you avoid baking biscuits because of the rolling and cutting, This is the biscuit recipe for you!
Self-rising flour, a stick of butter, and a half cup of sour cream with a touch of water make these the best biscuits you will ever taste. They are tender, buttery, soft, and literally melt in your mouth. Drizzle them with melted butter or spread them with butter before eating. They don’t technically need more butter since there’s a stick of butter in them. However, when you’re from the South, you know more butter is always the answer. Try these sour cream biscuits.
Here are the ingredients you need:
- 1 cup of self rising flour
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- Splash of water
Instructions:
- Grease a 6 cup muffin tin.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the butter and sour cream. Add the flour and stir until well mixed. The dough will be thick and sticky. If your dough is a little dry add a splash of water.
- Divide the dough and scoop into the muffin tins.
- Bake at 400° F for 20 minutes or until the biscuits are brown on top.
- Serve warm with butter and honey , or with gravy! I chose biscuits and gravy!
Notes:
Can I double the recipe? This recipe is easily doubled or even tripled! Just double or triple the ingredients as you wish.
My biscuits crumbled. What did I do wrong? If your biscuits crumbled your dough may have been a tad dry! Next time add a splash of water to the dough, and it should help the batter stay together better.
Can I use margarine instead of butter? I personally have not tried them with anything other than real butter. It may change the texture of the sour cream biscuits.
