It’s almost fall! How’s the weather where you are? Here in Texas we are in that weird in between season that is slightly cooler Summer. Think 90 to 100 degrees and humid as all get out. We have gotten some rain recently, but it just makes the humidity worse. Anyways the weather isn’t why we are here, its recipes.
Today’s recipe is bacon wrapped pickles. I know what you’re thinking. There is no way it can be delicious, right? Trust me, it’s the best thing. Who does not love pickles and bacon. If you say you dislike either, well you are unamerican. You need these flavors in your life. The flavor combinations of bacon and dill pickles are perfect. Bacon wrapped pickles are crunchy , full of flavor, and make a great appetizer or side. Bacon is one of the most versatile foods. I mean who doesn’t like bacon? I don’t mean that disgusting turkey bacon stuff, either. That is not real bacon. I’m talking about the real deal! Wrap anything in bacon and you have heaven in your mouth.
These bacon wrapped pickles are pretty simple. They only require a handful of ingredients to make. If you have bacon, dill pickles, and your favorite season all. You can make this delicious appetizer. It will quickly become one of your favorite barbecue items. In fact you won’t want to barbecue and not make them. Plus, they are low carb and keto! How great is that? I mean you’ll almost forget that they are healthy.
Here are the ingredients you will need:
- 12 dill pickle spears
- 12 slices hickory smoked bacon
- Slap ya Mama seasoning or your favorite season all
- Ranch dressing (Optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat Pitboss Smoker to 300°F.
- Pat pickle spears dry with a paper towel. This will play a big part in the texture of the pickles.
- Wrap each of the pickle spears tightly with a piece of bacon. (You can secure it with a toothpick, but it isn’t necessary.)
- Season with season-all on all sides.
- Place the bacon wrapped pickles directly on the grates of your smoker and close the lid.
- Smoke for 45 minutes-1 hour depending on how crunchy you want your bacon.
- Serve with Ranch, bbq sauce, or by themselves.
