Have you ever been eating a sugar cookie, and thought “Hmm this would be so much better as a chocolate chip?” Maybe you haven’t. That’s ok, there are people in this world that daydream of ways to make food better. I am one of those people. Maybe , I’m just a fat kid at heart….or its ADHD. I don’t know. What I do know is that Sugar Cookies are disappointing when you really want a chocolate chip. Sugar cookies do make a great base for cookies. That’s where this recipe comes from.

In a matter of a few steps and basic ingredients you can take a basic sugar cookie dough and make these amazing chocolate chip cookies. Now don’t be fooled, these are not traditional chocolate chip cookies. These are so much better! Because lets face it Sugar cookies are just cookies that wish they had a different identity. This recipe does just that.
These cookies are sugar cookies that add chocolate chips! They are the perfect mix of crispy on the outside and chewy gooey amazing on the inside. The texture is just about perfect on these cookies. The addition of chocolate chips add that little extra sweetness taking a sugar cookie to amazing chocolate chip. Here’s how to make them.

Here are the ingredients you will need:
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon fine salt
- 2 sticks unsalted butter room temperature
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup mini semisweet chocolate chips + more if desired

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and prep a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Using a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Using your stand mixer fitted with the flat beater attachment, mix together the butter, sugar and the vanilla extract on medium-high until pale and fluffy, for about 3 minutes. Beat in the egg, and then slowly pour in the flour mixture, a little at a time, with the setting on low.
- Stir in chocolate chips. (If adding more than recommended ½ cup stir in additional chips in small increments to make sure they are spread evenly throughout the dough. )
- Roll dough into 1½-inch balls and place, 2 inches apart, on your parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake the cookies for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden, rotating your baking sheets halfway through. Let cool on sheets for about 5 minutes, then transfer cookies to racks and let cool completely.
- Enjoy with a glass of milk!
