Well…the once carb loaded ball of goodness can be made low carb/keto. Can you believe it? You don’t have to give up this delicious breakfast. It’s possible to make Keto Sausage balls, and they taste just as good as the real thing. In fact, most people will not be able to tell the difference.
Sausage balls are a simple breakfast that requires a handful of ingredients, and are absolutely delicious. These keto sausage balls use low carb ingredients unlike the more traditional ones that use Bisquick. You can eat your fill of these sausage balls, and still maintain your low carb/keto diet.
These keto sausage balls are simple, low carb, and gluten free. If you need gluten free this recipe is for you! These simple keto sausage balls only take a few steps, five ingredients, and are done in about 30 minutes. That’s prep and baking, so it’s a quick recipe! If you’re anything like me quick and easy recipes are a blessing when life gets busy.
Here are the ingredients that you will need:
- 1 lb of breakfast sausage
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of almond flour
- 1 cup of shredded cheese
- 2 tsp baking powder
- Crushed red pepper (Optional)
- Garlic Powder (Optional)
- Onion Powder (Optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350*F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine the sausage, egg, flour, cheese, and baking powder in a large bowl. If using seasonings sprinkle across the mixture (It doesn’t take much) Using your hands mix well.
- Using a small ice-cream scoop or cookie scoop form into balls about 1 ½ Tbs to 2 Tbs. In size.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until lightly browned. Remove to wire rack to cool slightly.
- Serve warm or room temp.
- Store in air-tight container.
NOTES:
These keto sausage balls have about 1 net carb. They make amazing snacks for your holiday dinner, potluck, game day, or just because.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
If you are allergic to almonds you can also use coconut flour. It uses the same ratio of flour. You can also make these sausage balls with Italian sausage if you want a different flavor. If you do use Italian sausage I wouldn’t recommend adding the seasonings.
STORAGE:
These sausage balls can last in the fridge if stored in an airtight container. They freeze well if you need to prep them ahead of time.
