What is your favorite comfort food? I’m talking about the fast food you pick up when you do not feel like cooking. Is it chicken tenders? What about pepperoni pizza or a big juicy burger? My favorite fast food is a burger. I love them, but my hips do not. I struggle to give up carbs because I crave them. However, I have learned that having a decent substitute helps curb those cravings. 

This low-carb burger salad will give you the taste of a burger without all the calories or carbs. This salad is divine! It’s made with ground beef, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and a special sauce. You won’t even miss the bun. This low-carb burger salad is delicious and the perfect low-carb meal. 

This salad is low carb, but not no carb. It does have carbs. However, considering the amount of carbs in a traditional burger, this is a good substitute. This salad is also gluten-free as it does not use bread. You just need to make sure that your dressing is gluten-free. 

This low-carb burger salad is versatile, just like a traditional hamburger. You can pick the vegetables you want for your low-carb burger salad. Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • ½ tsp of ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp of salt
  • ½ large onion diced
  • 1 10 oz package chopped romaine hearts 
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 4 slices thick cut bacon cooked, chopped
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ Thousand Island

Optional Toppings

  • pickles
  • sliced jalapenos
  • sauteed mushrooms
  • avocados

Instructions: 

  1. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Season with black pepper and salt. Stir fry, breaking up the pieces with a spatula, for about 7-10 minutes. You will cook until there is no pink. 
  2. Combine the remaining salad ingredients in a large bowl. Add the ground beef. Toss with dressing! 
  3. Add additional toppings as desired. 
  4. Enjoy.
