Do you like a sweet that has a bit of a crunch, but tastes amazing? Then you have to try this old fashioned Corn Flake candy. Its a dessert that’s been around for a while, but is still great no matter the time of the year. You can make it as a Halloween treat, a Saturday treat, or just because. Around Christmas I like to give it as a gift, and its always well received. When you add some red and green sprinkles, it makes its extra festive.
There are so many handmade candies, that are family and personal favorites. Haystacks, divinity , Christmas crack, and so many others are tasty and easily made. While I may share them later, today I couldn’t pass up sharing this old fashioned cornflake candy. Its a family recipe, and so easy to make. With a few ingredients Corn Flake candy could be ready in a few minutes. It won’t last long, and you will be struggling with the question. To share or not to share. Here’s how to make old fashioned cornflake candy.
Here are the ingredients you will need:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 6 cups corn flakes
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a large saucepan, cook the corn syrup and sugar {on medium heat} until the sugar dissolves.
- Add peanut butter and stir until smooth.
- Gradually add corn flakes, 1 C. at a time, while mixing.
- Remove from heat, then spoon mixture onto wax paper {or aluminum foil} and let cool completely. (If you’re making it for Christmas this is when you’d add the sprinkles.)
NOTES:
The official recipe calls for 6 cups of corn flakes, but you can use anywhere from 4-6 cups depending on how much you’d like to make and how crunchy or “gooey” you’d like your candy {use more cornflakes for more crunch}. It’s really up to you, and what you enjoy.
