Dirt cake is a classic southern dessert recipe that has been around as long as I can remember. It’s the perfect staple for a Summer BBQ, work potluck, graduation dinner, or any special occasion. It’s luscious, creamy, and topped with Oreo’s! How can you go wrong with that? You can’t because…Oreos!
Dirt cake alternates layers of crushed Oreos with a creamy whipped pudding mixture. You can even top it with gummy worms or other gummy candies for a unique and creative touch. I personally just love the pudding and Oreo mixture. It’s delicious with or without the gummies.

Dirt cake is a crowd pleaser for any function! There are many variations of dirt cake around. They all use the same basic ingredients of Oreos, pudding and whipped topping. This Dirt Cake is the best, because it adds cream cheese and butter to make the perfect creamy filling. My Great Aunt made it this way, and it just hits differently than the normal dirt cake! The addition of the cream cheese makes it taste like Oreo cheesecake. Can you say delicious? Try this amazing dessert today!

Here are the ingredients you will need:
- 2 3.4oz boxes of vanilla instant pudding
- 3 ½ cups cold milk
- 12oz Cool Whip
- 1 8oz package of cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 package Oreos
- Gummy worms, fake flowers (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Combine instant pudding and skim milk in a large bowl. Whisk for 5 minutes, or until the pudding is softly set. Set aside after folding in the cool whip.
- In a separate bowl, stir together cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar until smooth. Add it to the pudding mixture and stir to combine.
- In a food processor or blender, process Oreos into fine crumbs. Spoon 1-1/2 cups of cookie crumbs into the bottom of a large bowl. Top with 1/2 the pudding mixture, followed by 1-1/2 cups of cookie crumbs, the remaining pudding mixture, and then the remaining cookie crumbs. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving, then top with gummy worms and/or fake flowers.
